April 2016 Meeting

Our April meeting will be Saturday the 16th at 2PM. We’ll be meeting at the home of Jon Norris, 112 Oakbeech Ct. in Holly Springs. It’s just south of Raleigh/Cary, and you should be able to find directions on Google Maps or GPS, but if not, just let me know.

This month, we will be featuring the flutes of Grover Wolf Voice and the music of Joseph FireCrow, both members of the Cheyenne Nation. We’re also going to be joined by Clint Goss, the man behind flutopedia.com and Flute Haven (a really great week-long flute school that I highly recommend). Clint is an amazing facilitator, and he’s going to lead us in some group playing activities, so please bring a flute in the key of A if you have one. If not, I’m sure we’ll have a few loaners available. As always, if you have a song to share, whether it’s a traditional tune, an improv piece, or a jam with you and a few friends, we look forward to hearing it. If you just want to hang out and listen, that’s cool too. If you’d like to bring a snack to share, feel free to do so.

This summer is a flute event not to be missed: The World Flute Society Convention in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It’s a 5 day event with more music, workshops, and flutes than you can imagine. Performers include Peter Phippen, Michael Graham Allen, Kevin Locke, Ron Korb, and many more. Yes, it’s one heck of a road trip, but it’s totally worth it. You can get more info at http://worldflutes.org, and I’ll be glad to answer any questions I can.

As always, feel free to get in touch if you have any feedback regarding the flute circle. I look forward to seeing you on the 16th at my house.
