July 2013 Meeting

Flute Friends,

Our July meeting will be Saturday the 20th at 2PM. This time, we’ll be at the home of Josh Kleinstreuer, 4522 Centrebrook Circle in North Raleigh. Please park in spots labeled “GUEST”, which there should be plenty of on a Saturday. There is also additional parking available on Valley Stream Drive.

This month, we’ll be discussing breath control as it applies to flute playing. We will also feature the music of Mark Holland. Then we’ll take a look at the flutes of Brad Young. And of course, we’ll make lots of music. If you have a song to share, whether it’s a traditional tune, an improv piece, or a jam with you and a few friends, we look forward to hearing it. If you just want to hang out and listen, that’s cool too. If you’d like to bring a snack to share, feel free to do so.

Speaking of Mark Holland, he and N. Scott Robinson are currently on tour in support of their new Wind & Fire release, Lost In The Beauty Of It All. They will be performing at Common Ground Theatre in Durham on Saturday, August 10. As a world music duo, Mark and Scott combine superb flute playing with amazing percussion. If you’ve never seen them play together, you’ll be blown away. The performance will begin at 8PM, and tickets are $20 at the door. Please help spread the word. Bring your families, neighbors and coworkers out for this outstanding evening of music. This concert will serve as our August gathering.

As always, feel free to get in touch if you have any feedback regarding the flute circle. I look forward to seeing you on the 20th at Josh’s house.

Thanks,
Jon
