October 2016 Meeting

It’s been a whirlwind month since our last meeting, with many of us from the flute circle attending Flute Haven in PA, and a few of us continuing on from there to the Sweetgrass Festival in Iowa. It was a great trip, but after 18 days and nearly 2500 miles, it’s definitely nice to be back at home.

Our October meeting will be Saturday the 15th at 2PM. This time, we’ll be at the home of Lloyd and Judith Jenkins, 4925 Bartwood Dr in North Raleigh.

This month, we’ll be featuring the music of Douglas Spotted Eagle and the flutes of Brad Young. Then we’ll do some facilitated playing activities. As always, if you have a song to share, whether it’s a traditional tune, an improv piece, or a jam with you and a few friends, we look forward to hearing it. If you just want to hang out and listen, that’s cool too. If you’d like to bring a snack to share, feel free to do so.

The last major flute event of the year is Native Rhythms Festival, November 10-13 in Melbourne, FL. It’s always a great event, and they have an excellent lineup of performers this year. For more info, visit http://www.nativerhythmsfestival.com/

As always, feel free to get in touch if you have any feedback regarding the flute circle. I look forward to seeing you on the 15th.
