March 2013 Meeting

Our March meeting will be next Saturday the 16th at 2PM. This time, we’ll be at the home of Andrew Shakinovsky. Hidden away above his garage, we’ll be meeting in Andrew’s recording studio. He has recently released a CD that he mixed and mastered in that very space (check it out at http://afrittemple.com). He’ll lead a discussion on how you can set up your own home studio to record your music for posterity.

This month, we’ll feature the music of Scott August. Scott is a gifted composer and performer, featuring both Native American style flutes and rim-blown flutes in his work. Then we’ll take a look at the flutes of Ray Wood (Island Flutes). If you have one of Ray’s flutes, please bring it along. And of course, we’ll make lots of music. If you have a song to share, whether it’s a traditional tune, an improv piece, or a jam with you and a few friends, we look forward to hearing it. If you just want to hang out and listen, that’s cool too. If you’d like to bring a snack to share, feel free to do so.
