May 2015 Meeting

Our May meeting will be Saturday the 21st at 2PM. This time, we’ll be at the home of Lloyd and Judith Jenkins, 4925 Bartwood Dr in North Raleigh.

This month, we will be featuring the flutes and music of Michael Graham Allen, who performs under the name Coyote Oldman. As always, if you have a song to share, whether it’s a traditional tune, an improv piece, or a jam with you and a few friends, we look forward to hearing it. If you just want to hang out and listen, that’s cool too. If you’d like to bring a snack to share, feel free to do so.

This summer is a flute event not to be missed: The World Flute Society Convention in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It’s a 5 day event with more music, workshops, and flutes than you can imagine. Performers include Peter Phippen, Michael Graham Allen, Kevin Locke, Ron Korb, and many more. Yes, it’s one heck of a road trip, but it’s totally worth it. You can get more info at http://worldflutes.org, and I’ll be glad to answer any questions I can.

Also, we’ve got quite a crew heading to Flute Haven, a week-long flute school in Pennsylvania in September. There are enough flute circle members attending that you can get a 20% discount on the program fee if you’d like to join us. For more information, check out http://flutehaven.com. I’ve been there the last two years and can answer any questions you may have.

As always, feel free to get in touch if you have any feedback regarding the flute circle. I look forward to seeing you on the 21st.
