October 2015 Meeting

Our October meeting will be Saturday the 24th at 2PM. This time, we’ll be at the home of Catrrine Ponall, 2818 Bedford Avenue in Raleigh, near the NC State Campus. Bedford is a one way street, so you’ll need to come in on Dixie Trail, which runs between Wade Avenue and Hillsborough St.

This month, we will be featuring the flutes of Dr. Richard Payne and the music of Peter Phippen. We’ll also look at playing flutes in harmonizing keys together, so please bring flutes in some of the common keys if you have them — A, G, F#, E, and D. As always, we’ll make lots of music. If you have a song to share, whether it’s a traditional tune, an improv piece, or a jam with you and a few friends, we look forward to hearing it. If you just want to hang out and listen, that’s cool too. If you’d like to bring a snack to share, feel free to do so.

Coming up in November is Native Rhythms Festival down in Melbourne, FL. It’s always a great event, and we highly recommend it if you want to spend a weekend surrounded by flutes. For more information, check out http://nativerhythmsfestival.com/.

Also in November, Randy Granger will be back in town for a house concert. It will take place Friday, November 20th at 7:30PM in Cary. Tickets are $15, and seating is limited, so you must buy your tickets in advance. There will be no tickets sold at the door. To purchase tickets or to get additional information, please contact Dawn Leith-Dougherty at dawn@treeoflifedesigns.com. This concert will serve as our November event.

If you’d like to host a future meeting, please let me know. And as always, feel free to get in touch if you have any feedback regarding the flute circle. I look forward to seeing you on the 24th.
